Open Carry Becomes A National Second Amendment (And 2012 Election) Topic

Mark Fiorino was walking through a less-than reputable part of Philadelphia, with his handgun visible to passers by, when a passing police officer, Officer Michael Dougherty, approached him and questioned him about the gun, and his ability to display it like he was.

Fiorino, who carries an audio recorder with him when he wears the gun to prevent misconception of the events that proceed if he is stopped by police, says that he wears the gun visibly to prevent “being shot” in a bad part of town, and attempted to explain to the officer that he was within his rights to carry the weapon in plain sight, citing “Directive 137″ and offering to show the police his carry permit. When Dougherty grows agitated, foul language and an argument ensues, and Fiorino apparently at one point had a gun pointed at his chest, and then was told to lay on the ground while Dougherty and several other officers called to the scene check the validity of the law he is talking about with their superiors.
