According to the UPI, California police received a call from a man who told them he was working out, when he accidentally dropped a dumbbell on a rimfire .22-caliber bullet. This activated the propellant powder in the bullet, and it shot into his shoulder.
Officer Chris Adams said police found the story suspicious, but not impossible. He said investigators did not find any guns in the house and witnesses did not report seeing anyone else leave. Adams said officers did find the casing for the bullet.
So — do you think this is this possible? Or is this a hoax put over on the police and the UPI? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

I think the guy is full of crap. It is impossible.
About fifty years ago I saw an idiot place a .22 long rifle round on an anvil and hit it with a hammer, “…to see if if it would go off.” It did, and the slug embedded itself in the wooden siding of his garage. It only penetrated about three-eighths of an inch, but I imagine it would have gone considerably deeper into flesh.
